Teenage Prisoners Begin Hunger Strike in Bahrain: Report
They began their hunger strike on Sunday, according to the Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the Bahrain Mirror reported.
This is not the first time the prisoners in the notorious jail go on hunger strike, as they have done so several times over that past months.
The prison official, however, refuse to meet their legitimate demands about issues such as improvement of the prison conditions.
The al-Hawz al-Jaf prison, many of whose inmates are political prisoners, is located in Bahrain’s capital of Manama.
Human rights organizations have censured Bahrain over its repressive measures and heavy-handed crackdown against political opponents and democracy advocates, saying the Persian Gulf kingdom has the biggest number of political prisoners among Arab states.
Political prisoners in Bahrain are subjected to various forms of torture, ill-treatment and persecution, and the Al-Khalifa regime silences any opposing voice through detention, torture and execution.
In other news from the Persian Gulf island country, the group Bahrain National Initiative called on the Manama regime to annul the agreement on normalizing ties with the Zionist regime and expel the Israeli regime’s ambassador.

The group also stressed its opposition to the idea of Bahrain joining a US-led coalition purportedly aimed at protecting Red Sea shipping.
It said the main objective of the coalition is safeguarding the interests of the Israeli regime.
