TEHRAN (IQNA) – The event of Ashura in Karbala was a manifestation of all verses and Surahs of Quran and that is the reason why this event has remained alive after so many centuries.

Ashura uprising

Imam Hussein (AS) refers to the Quran for the ideological foundations and motivations for the Ashura uprising and bases this uprising on religious and Quranic teachings.

When we read the Quran, we see that the Ashura uprising moved in the direction that is aligned with these verses with the aim of upholding justice, self-sacrifice, Jihad, and Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

Ashura and the movement of Imam Hussein (AS) are the practical manifestation of the Quran.

According to the teachings of the Holy Book, one should migrate in order to uphold justice and on that path, any type of death would be tantamount to martyrdom.

If Ashura hadn’t taken place, the Islamic civilization that had been initiated by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) would be destroyed.

There are many verses in the Quran stressing the need for moving toward salvation, self-sacrifice, fighting arrogance and oppression, steadfastness on the path of God and reviving Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

These are what constituted the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) since the beginning.

We read in Verse 1 of Surah Al-Hujurat: “Believers do not advance before Allah and His Messenger. Fear Allah. Allah is the Hearer, the Knower.”

Our religion has always been harmed by those who advanced before the Imam (AS) and made mistakes and errors because of this.
