Egyptians Continue Holding Quranic Circles after Ramadan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Mosques and religious centers across Egypt keep hosting Quranic circles after the holy month of Ramadan.

The country’s Awqaf ministry has ordered the Quranic events to continue given the warm reception by the people.

Worshippers and those living in proximity of mosques and religious sites attend the Quranic circles after daily prayers, according to al-Bawaba news website.

They listen to Quran recitations by eminent qaris and contemplate the meanings and concepts of the verses.

After the end of Ramadan, imams of mosques held a poll and most of respondents called for continuation of the Quranic circles.

They also hailed the Awqaf ministry’s programs held in mosques during the blessed month.

Addressing a ceremony held Saturday to honor imams of mosques and qaris dispatched to other countries for Quran recitation, Awqaf Minster Mohammed Mukhtar Gomma said mosques and Quranic program have become a spiritual haven for many people.

He added that given the difficulties an crises in societies, the role of religion and religious teachings in helping people is growing in many countries.

He appreciated the efforts of imams and preachers in Ramadan to promote religious teachings and moderate thoughts.

The Awqaf minister also noted that summer Quranic programs in Egypt will kick off next month with a focus on teaching Quran recitation in some 20,000 mosques.
