TEHRAN (IQNA) – The differences that are there in creation of beings in this world are the basis for the differences in people’s obligations and their rewards.

Differences in People’s Responsibilities, Rewards

The Holy Quran says in Verse 286 of Surah Al-Baqarah: “God does not impose on any soul a responsibility beyond its ability.” We also read in Verse 7 of Surah At-Talaq: “God does not impose on any soul that which he cannot afford.”

In the first verse (286 of Surah Al-Baqarah), the limit of responsibility is one’s ability. In the second verse, the limit is what one can afford in terms of physical, financial, and other capacities.

Obviously, one who has physical ability and wealth should not have equal responsibilities and obligations to those who lack the ability and financial assets, and this is Adl (justice).

The rewards given to people are also different based on the abilities and assets that they have and what they do, and this is what justice necessitates. If I am healthy, I can take Wudu (ablution), go to the mosque and say prayers with ease but doing them would be difficult for an ill person or one who has physical disability. He would need more efforts and more time to do them and, therefore, he should obviously have greater rewards.
