TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed condolences over the death of Palestinian resistance figure Ahmed Jibril.

In a message on Thursday, Zarif said the Palestinian nation has lost a great warrior who spent his life for the liberation of Jerusalem al-Quds.

He added that the demise of Jibril, who was the secretary general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command (PFLP-GC), saddened him and all of those who support the axis of resistance.

Zarif expressed condolences to the family of Jibril and members and leaders of PFLP-GC.

Jibril, the founder and leader of the PFLP-GC, died of an illness at the age of 83 in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Wednesday.

He was a notable supporter of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government in its fight against foreign-sponsored terrorists wreaking havoc in the Arab country since 2011.
