TEHRAN (IQNA) – Representative of Hamas in Lebanon Ali Baraka said that the Egyptian court ruling on al-Qassam Brigades as a terror group comes in the context of the declared war against the Movement and its armed wing.

"Gaza is in need for weapons, so it does not make sense to accuse it of supplying and smuggling arms to militants in Egypt and Sinai. Maybe these accusations are a prelude to a new war against Gaza as has happened in the previous media campaign against it before the last aggression," Baraka stated in an interview with al-Aqsa satellite channel on Saturday evening, PIC reported.

He appealed to Egypt to revoke the court decision, stressing that the leaders of the Israeli occupation had rejoiced over its classification of Hamas's armed wing as a terrorist organization because it would serve their goals.

"We fear that the decision was taken to get along with the Zionist position because there is an aggravating blockade on Gaza by Israel and Egypt, and the latter had destroyed the tunnels, which were a lifeline for Gaza," the Hamas official underlined.
