A prominent Egyptian Quran master urged that the true teachings of Islam that underline moderation be promoted at the International Quran Competition for Muslim Students.

Speaking to IQNA, Ahmed Ahmed Noaina referred to verse 143 of Surah al-Baqara “And thus We have made you a moderate community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you”, and underlined that moderation is an Islamic principle.
He said the international Quran contest for students can play a role in promotion of moderation.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Noaina, who will be present in the 5th edition of the competition as a member of the panel of arbiters, thanked the organizers of the contest for holding the Quranic event and said it helps to enhance the Quranic culture among the youth.

“These contests motivate the youth to enhance their connection to the Book of God… and encourage young Muslims around the world to memorize the Quran.”
He urged that the category of Quran interpretation be included in the contest so that the youth who read the Quran be encouraged to learn more about the meanings and interpretations of the verses.
The Egyptian Quranic figure also called on the organizers to play the recitations of top Qaris of the Muslim world on the sidelines of the competition and hold seminars for the participants on the teachings of Islam.
This will be the fourth time Master Noaina is going to serve as a member of the jury panel in the international Quranic event.

The fifth edition of the International Holy Quran Competition for Muslims Students is scheduled to be held in January 2015 by the Iranian Academics' Quranic Activities Organization.
