Participants in Int’l Quran Contest Take a Tour of Cairo

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Participants in the 28th international Quran contest in Egypt took a tour of religious sites in the capital Cairo.

 

The country’s Awqaf Ministry staged a one-day tour for all participants and referees of the event, Almasryalyoum.com reported.

The delegation visited major Islamic sites of Cairo including Al-Hussain Mosque, Al-Azhar University, and the Egyptian Museum.

Participants lauded the hospitality of Egyptian officials at the end of the tour.

Egypt’s 28th international Quran contest that kicked off in the capital, Cairo, on Saturday, will wrap up today.

Seventy-four Quran memorizers from different countries are taking part in this year’s event, which has been named after the late qari Mohammad Sidiq Minshawi.

The panel of arbiters comprises twelve Quran experts from Egypt and a number of other countries.

Winners will receive cash prizes totaling 1.1 million Egyptian pounds.
