Egypt's grand Mufti Sheikh Shoqi Alam dismissed any link between Islam and what members of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group do in Iraq.

Speaking in a TV program, Shoqi said what ISIL militants do has nothing to do with Islam and Jihad, al-Alam news network reported.
He said the ISIL is committing crimes against Muslims and this is not what Jihad is about.
Meanwhile, a number of al-Azhar university scholars have described ISIL as a terrorist group set up by the United States.
They say the group has been created to foment discord and spread sedition and terrorism.
ISIL came into spotlight when militants belonging to the terrorist group took control of the Iraqi city of Mosul on June 10, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of Baghdad.
More than a million people have been displaced in Iraq as a result of the terrorist group's activities, according to the United Nations.
