“Itidal” Center Opens in Afghanistan

A center called “Itidal” (moderation) was opened in Afghanistan on March 3 in a ceremony with the participation of a number of high-ranking Afghan officials in Kabul.


According to IQNA’s branch in West Asia, the center officially started its activities with the aim of promoting moderation and Islamic unity in the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ne’matullah Shahrani, founder of the center, said that Islam is the religion of moderation and there is no place for extremism and ignorance in the Divine religion.

He noted that the center was opened to investigate the causes of extremism and ignorance and disseminate moderate ideas in society.



He said it will organize forums and seminars to clarify the concept of moderation in view of Islam.

Publication of books, papers and magazines as well as translation of works on moderation will also be among the activities of the center.

A message by Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan, to the ceremony was also read at the program.

In his message, Karzai appreciated Sha’rani’s move to set up the center.
