The academic center, which is an all-female university, is implementing the plan in cooperation with the Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine.
It was launched in a ceremony attended by Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi, custodian of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalayi, and a number of other officials.
Karrar al-Shamari, head of the Dar-ol-Quran Center’s media office, said it is held at the university under the supervision of female Quran experts.
He said the plan is held five days a week for an hour every day and will continue until the participants memorize the entire Quran.
It includes lessons on Quran memorization and Tafeer (interpretation), al-Shamari went on to say.
He noted that the students will also attend workshops on Tajweed and rules of Quran recitation.
