25 Countries to Attend Int’l Quran Contest for Students

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 7th edition of the international Quran competition for school students will be held in Iran with the participation of 25 countries, an official said.

Mikaeil Bagheri, director general of the Iranian Education Ministry’s Quran, Etrat and Prayers Department made the remark in a visit to the venue being prepared for the Quranic event.

The official said school students from Iran, Turkey, Tanzania, Nigeria, Indonesia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq, Senegal, Congo, Bangladesh, Germany, the Netherlands, Algeria, Syria, Ivory Coast, Moldova, Pakistan, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, India, Kyrgyzstan, Brunei and Madagascar will attend the competition.

Bagheri noted that a number of top Quran experts from Iran and a number of other countries will judge the performances in the contest, which will be mostly held virtually.

The international Quran competition is a biennial event held in Iran.

The 7th edition, originally scheduled for 2021, was postponed a few months due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

The final stage of the event is slated to be held in the Iranian month of Esfand (February-March 2022), concurrent with the annual international Quran competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In 2019, 38 students from 27 countries took part in the 6th edition of the international Quran competition for school students.
