TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Friday Prayers Policy-Making Council of Iran said Friday payers will be held in Tehran this week.

Friday Prayers to Resume in Tehran after 20 Months

The council said in a statement referred to the suspension of Friday prayers twenty month ago over coronavirus concerns and said that four times during this period, the National Headquarters for Fighting Coronavirus was asked to evaluate the situation for holding the prayers.

It said that each time, with the arrival of a new wave of the infectious disease, it was decided that the prayers remain suspended.

Now, with the successful implementation of a vaccination campaign and the end of the fifth wave of COVID-19 in the country, grounds are set for the resumption of the unifying ritual of Friday prayers in Tehran on the eve of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birthday.

The Tehran Friday Prayers Headquarters is ready to host worshippers this Friday with plans to protect their health and will soon announce the details of Friday prayers programs and measures to ensure compliance with the health protocols, the statement added.

It expressed hope that this week’s Friday prayers in Tehran will be organized with the epic, glorious and unifying presence of worshippers.
