TEHRAN (IQNA) – Dozens of Israeli settlers on Thursday stormed into Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard from Al Maghareba gate under strict protection of the Zionist forces.

The settlers raided the mosque in the holy city of Jerusalem al-Quds in the wee hours of Thursday and made provocative tours inside the mosque, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces detained 11 Palestinians, including former prisoners, during a wide-scale arrest operation in several areas in the occupied West Bank, according to sources.

Israeli soldiers detained five from Nablus, three former prisoners from Hebron and one from Salfit.

Additionally, the Israeli forces detained two former prisoners from Bethlehem.

More than 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.

All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law as they are built on occupied land. The United Nations Security Council has condemned Israel’s settlement activities in the occupied territories in several resolutions.
