The prominent Quran reciter passed away on Wednesday, al-Bayan website reported.
He had been suffering from a chronic illness for a long time.
Abdul Halim was laid to rest in a cemetery in the city of Talkha in Dakahlia Governorate, northeast of the capital Cairo.
Egyptians posted videos of his recitations and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
