Winner of Iran Int’l Quran Contest Says Likes Egyptian Qari’s Recitation
Speaking to IQNA, Amrullah, who bagged the top prize in the recitation category of the contest, said he imitates the Egyptian master in his recitations.
He added that he also likes listens very much to Quran recitations by Iranian master Hamed Shakernejad.
Referring to the international Quran competition, Amrullah described the level of the contest as high and hailed the changes made to the organization of the event.
He noted that holding the competition in two stages in order to let those with high qualifications reach the finals was effective in elevating the level of the contest.
The Indonesian Qari further said he had always wanted to visit Iran since childhood and travelling to the country to attend an international Quran competition was a wish come true.
As for his Quran learning, he said he started learning recitation of the Holy Book at the age of 14 and soon mastered the rules of recitation.
Amrullah and his wife are both teachers of the Quran and have a total of 150 students.
He said he teaches Quran recitation while his wife, who is a memorizer of the entire Quran, teaches memorization.
The 36th International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held here in the capital, Tehran, on April 10-14.
Quran reciters and memorizers from 84 countries took part in the Quranic event, and simultaneous international Quran contests for women, the visually-impaired, seminary students and school students.
