TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition for students was held in the city of Bani Walid, northwestern Libya, on Monday.

According to al-Raed news website, it featured memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran.

A total of 67 school students from different parts of the city participated in the contest.

Memorization of the 30th Juz (part), 29th Juz and 28th Juz of the Quran were among the categories of the event.

The Quran competition was held in Bani Walid for the third consecutive year.

Efforts to develop Quranic activities in Libya are being made despite the violence that has plagued many parts of the North African country since a NATO military intervention led to the overthrow of former dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
