Iranian Qari Wins TV Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Qari Ali Asghar Shoaei came first in the 11th edition of a live TV Quran contest organized by Al-Kawthar TV.

 

According to the TV’s public relations office, Shoaei scored 84 out of 100 points in the final round.

Mohamed Fathullah Bibres from Egypt bagged the second prize with 82.5 points and the third rank went to Mohammad Taqi Anvari from Afghanistan who scored 81 points.

A Qari from Lebanon and another one from Iraq came fourth and fifth respectively.

The 11th edition of the phone-in Quran competition titled “Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31) had begun on the first night of Ramadan (May 17).

A total of 113 Qaris from different countries competed in this edition of the Quranic event, organized by Al-Kawthar TV.  

A panel of judges made up of Quran masters hailing from Egypt, Iran, Iraq and Syria judged the contestants’ performance.

Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza is the Muslim world’s biggest live Quran recitation competition aired by Al-Kawthar, an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.
