Quran Competition Held in Pakistan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The third edition of a national Quran competition in Pakistan was held in cooperation with the Iranian Cultural Center in Islamabad.

According to the center, Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs hosted the Quranic event on December 27 and 28.

The Sawt al-Quran International Institute and the ministry also cooperated in organizing the competition.

Quran memorizers and reciters from different parts of the country competed in the categories of Quran recitation and memorization of the entire Holy Book.

It was supervised by a committee of three Pakistani Quran experts and an Iranian Quranic figure.

The preliminary stage of the competition was held in the cities of Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Skardu and Muzaffarabad and winners of each region competed in the final stage.

The closing ceremony of the competition was held on December 29 with the participation of Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, the Pakistani minister of Religious Affairs, Mahdi Honardust, Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, and Shahabuddin Darayi, Iranian cultural attaché in Islamabad.

The top participants of the competition will participate in the 2018 edition of Iran's international Quran competition in Tehran.
