Deadline Ends for Submitting Works to Noor Students Contest

The second round of the Noor Student Competition is being held in recognition of Professor Jackie Ying.

Over 5000 students have participated in this competition by submitting about 2000 short films.

The Noor Student Competition launched its work in early December 2016 with the aim of identifying students’ strengths and talents and developing new perspectives in student communities as well as promoting scientific cooperation among educational centers.

Student groups could take part in this challenge, by sending 60- second films of their scientific experiments in all fields of science including physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and astronomy.

One of the distinctive features of the second round of Noor Student Competition, compared with the previous year, was the participation of other regional countries, such as schools from Afghanistan and Pakistan, in the competition.

In this round, students were required to send their works and science experiments to the Mustafa (PBUH) Science and Technology Foundation (MSTF) by June 21, 2017. In this period, 5110 students in the form of 2194 groups registered and 1193 videos were sent to the Foundation.

The most important selection criteria, according to the organizers, are the creativity and attractiveness of the received videos.

100 top selected works will be awarded. They will also be broadcast on a weekly TV program and their producers and selected schools and research centers will be granted laboratory and science equipment.

The winners of Noor Student Competition will be honored for their achievements in the closing ceremony of the event, which will be held on September the first, 2017, coinciding with Eid al-Adha.
